It is true that we might be heading for a grim future, but with one caveat. It’ll likely be grim by our current standards, while our future measure of grimness is too illusive to even speculate on it.
The question of whether or not we’ll be sold fresh air and views in the future is contingent on the notion that commerce — as we understand it today — will survive the post-scarcity.
